Oh *well*

No water for us.  Maybe not for a few days??   Man came to look at it.....well head is frozen....apparently leaks all over the place in pipes out that way.....might be a break in the holding tank....oh man oh man.   <sigh>

Mitchell is going get something to try to melt the ice out around the various parts.  Then we can go the next step to see what needs to be done to fix things......

Yes, it is the landlord's responsibility to fix this.  But he lives in Vegas.  There apparently is no one around here to do this.....so we just need to "suck up and move on" as they say.   When it is melted and maybe water running.....then the man will gladly come back to see what needs to be done.

Oh....we brought 5-6, 5 gallon bottles of water with us when we left Texas.  They have been stored in the van outside.  I mentioned to Mitchell that we needed to pop the caps on them, in case they froze....never did anything with them.  He went to get one to bring in so we have some water....yelp....they are totally frozen with busted seams.  Hope that one or two of them will be saveable.

Thank you God for Mitchell's good job here, that he enjoys.  Thank you God for a nice roof over our head, and plenty of food to eat.  Thank you God for the house being warm now. Thank you that we have our health and neither of us is sick, nor is his back hurting any more.  Thank you God for your sense of humor in things like this.......cause right now, I find myself really sad that one thing after another to keeps going wrong.

  • Brenda Sparks Speck You have a much better attitude than I would. So you can't shower for a few days?
  • Susanne Wolf Not having water sux. I'm truly sorry for what you're going through. But I admire your spirit and attitude in all this immensely! You are truly an inspiration, Terrie Lynn! Does the landlord even know about your troubles? Maybe you can stick the frozen busted water bottles in some kind of receptacle and catch the water as it thaws? Sending prayers your way...
  • Terrie Lynn Gelman Haven't taken a shower or bath since we got back from the trip....last Wednesday. Might just break down and go to a motel room tonight....we shall see.
  • Terrie Lynn Gelman I would really like to break down and throw a major hissy fit and demand the landlord get his tushy here and not leave till something is done.....but.....in reality.....we no longer live in a normal world where that would do any good. So...............<shrug> What else can we do?
  • Terrie Lynn Gelman Mitchell made a small joke.....right at Christmas.....we had the two different hoses break a few days apart, and had TOO much water.....now we have none. Maybe that is supposed to make it even out somehow???

    • Ellen Deckinga Put your jugs in the tub so you can use that water as it melts for flushing toilets.
    • Susan Lowe I think a trip to the motel is needed for at least tonight. That way you can shower, rest, no stress and get some drinking water, etc.
    • Terrie Lynn Gelman @ Ellen...great idea....but ummmmm Annie, the turtle, lives in the bath tub during winters. It is full of her hay, box and a great light to keep her warm. We take showers. hahahahaha Not to worry.....we have one turned upside down (yes, it is the bottom that popped, of course) After it melts just a bit....we can shift it to the water cooler holder thing. The rest can stay outside and frozen for now......he took the three empty ones up to the mine and will get them filled for the toilet and such. I sure appreciate the support and ideas tho.....keep 'em coming!
    • Turtle Chernish Aww - this too shall pass TL. Sorry about the water but, as you said, you still have lots to be thankful for. This will work itself out in due time. Meanwhile, we do what we can to get through these times. Strong women know how to do these things Keep up the fight!
    • Terrie Lynn Gelman **Update.......I was watching Mitchell out there....in the area next to the well house....using a pan to toss out the melting snow and nasty water! I got mad.....actually I am really really ticked right now. He should NOT have to be doing that.....I love my man for caring enough to try to fix us up some water....but this is BS! I went to tell him to quit and let me call the landlord.....then found out he has the well guy coming back.....now that it is sort of thawing out....he might be able to find the issue and fix it. I told Mitchell I would be quiet for a bit longer....but it Tom can't do it.....I am calling the landlord and he can get his butt down here and do something. All he has done so far is told Mitchell "let me know what you find out". Mitchell and I both practice a good program, and take care of what we can in life....but there comes a time when others can step up and do what they are supposed to do......like take care of their renter! Anyway.....right now Tom is out there.......more will be revealed.

      • Turtle Chernish Fingers crossed for your water to work, TL!
      • Susan Lowe I agree that the landlord should come and take care of this! This should not be your problem to fix. Your much more calm than I would be. You have every right to be mad.
      • Terrie Lynn Gelman *** UPDATE TO THE UPDATE .... Tom and Mitchell found and fixed several leaks. We now have to wait several house for the compound to dry....its so cold it will take some time for it to do so. Probably won't do anything to check the water till in the morning....just to be safe. Mitchell got me three bottles of water....so I am good to go there.....no bath tonight....so don't any of you sit down wind from me. bwahahahaha The crockpot is doing its thing and the house smells good.....guess we will see what the morning brings. I think my life here would make for a good reality show, don't you? You can't make this stuff up.
