Let the pack rat begin

So, today, I start with the total downsizing. Something that probably needed to be done 6-7 moves ago.....I just don't ever want to let go of things.

Since I will start the next part of my life journey staying with the daughter in her place, I will have limited space for "stuff". I don't want to leave a ton of "stuff" here for Mitchell to have to mess with, in case he does decide he wants to move to a smaller space himself.

I have a month to work on it....should probably take me forever cause I will have to touch and feel everything and remember the memories and why I have kept it this long. Most things I am going to take a picture of and let it go to a new home. Only keep those that are such precious memories it would hurt to not have them around. If that makes sense.

I am doing the same thing with my t-shirts. THAT is hard to do! I think I shared before I love all of my t-shirts. I sorted about half of them out of the keep pile yesterday. I am going to cut them down to make little mini quilt tops using the smaller blankies I have. The blankies I use in the front room for watching tv. I am always having to wash them cause of pug fur (have no idea where it all comes from....as I shift my eyes to three sleeping/snoring pugs sitting by me). Making the quilt tops will help keep the memories of the shirts without taking up clothing space.

Also talked to Mr. Awesome about an idea. My shirts are big...cause I am big....I think they would make excellent pillow case covers. I don't really like the regular cases you can get in the store. I like cotton, soft cotton. Using the shirts for this would be pretty neat idea. Seems to me it would be so simple to turn them inside out, stitch a seam, cut off the excess and viola! Memory pillowcase covers. :)

My goal is only one, yes, one, box of totally useless scrap/craft things. The ones that I just "know" I can make something out of some day. hahahaha Yeal, well, that is my goal. We shall see how close I come when done packing at the end of February.
