Cooper Ray Allison

Jan 17,13 at 432am.
My dear young friend, Jessica, is a proud new momma today. I am the proud new "grammie" to her little boy, Cooper. What a blessing from God.
I can't wait till I get back to Texas and can see her and hold him.

Water, Water everywhere...............
Okay, lets add today's stuff then.
Mitchell came home around 10 to do the joints that were broken.
Waited for awhile to let all the glue dry, open water....goes back to
work.
I am in the kitchen around 2:30, doing what I can
to clean up....basically puttering around wishing I could do some real
cleaning....I keep checking the sink, although the faucet is left turned
on....you never know. Anyway, I look out back, which I have done all
day too......the snow is melting really good. Wait a minute?? That's
not melting snow! OH Crap.......water....everywhere
at the well house.....I tip toe out the best I can to get to it....sure
enough ANOTHER spot broke this time. The well house is about 4-5
inches deep in water, inside the house, and outside in the retaining
wall. I had to figure a way to get in to shut off the
electricity......I found a grey tub thing, tossed it in the room,
stepped in with one foot, used a plastic piece of pipe to sort of row over to the electrical panel, then turned off all the circuits....water stopped flowing, of course.
Now Mitchell is back out there....it appears this time, a whole piece
of the pipe split. Up to the little hardware store, more pipe.....back
to doing what he is doing...cutting and gluing parts together.
Interesting thing. The water out at the well.....is going down a hole
just a tad bit from the side of the retaining wall. Where is it
going??? Now mind you....it is A LOT of water....and I am not being shy
by saying A LOT. Where would it be going if it is heading back under
ground?? Is the whole darn thing on a hole of some sort and will it
fall in??
I see him out there on the phone.....I think he is finally back to calling the landlord.
More later when I have something to share.
=======================================
OMG
OMG OMG......I barely got that posted when all hell broke lose!!! In
a great way. We have water flowing in the kitchen. It came on full
force....for about 3 minutes and now is a real little trickle....which
is to be expected, cause now we have
to work the ice out of the pipes under the house. Can flush the
toilet so the bath pipes are doing okay, it would seem. Maybe, just
maybe it is all going to work out by tonight. Praise God!!!

Cool, clear, water........NOT!!
I don't think it is ever going to stop....er....in our case start?
The water started flowing to the the outside thing where the hoses go
to water the yard. It is maybe 20 feet or so to the right of the well
house. Yea! Right? Oh you would be so wrong, my friends.
Mitchell goes into the well house to check the guage....the well house
is now flooded, an "L" shape piece of plastic pipe broke! Yes, I am
serious. bwahahaha Oh, and top it off....it filled up water in the
area outside the well room with the retaining wall around where the pump
shaft is. What a freaking mess.
He ran down to our little hardware store to get the piece of pipe and
the glue stuff for pvc pipe. Oh did I fail to mention, it is now about
15 after 5:00? Can you guess what I am going to write next?? The
hardware store closes at 5! Of course it does. This is the crappy
middle of forsaken nowhere.
He came back home and used shop vac to get the water all cleaned up. Yea for shop vacs. Awesome contraptions.
Here we were both excited to think we would have running water to the
house, cause of part of the pipes in one direction were able to defrost,
the rest should do it tomorrow. Ha. Guess not. At least not for me
anyway.....till he can get off work, get the part, glue it all back
together. Wait two hours for it to dry and then give it a a try.
Call the landlord I heard you say? Why? What good is he going to do in Vegas? And the only well person is in Fallon....and probably going to need a couple of days to get us scheduled in. So...................on goes the sage of water. :)
I wish to make note that Mitchell must be a saint somehow.....he just sighs and does what he can for each step along the way. I love and appreciate him. Just so you guys know.
Let the pack rat begin
So,
today, I start with the total downsizing. Something that probably
needed to be done 6-7 moves ago.....I just don't ever want to let go of
things.
Since I will start the next part of my life journey
staying with the daughter in her place, I will have limited space for
"stuff". I don't want to leave a ton of "stuff" here for Mitchell to
have to mess with, in case he does decide he wants to move to a smaller
space himself.
I have a month to work on it....should
probably take me forever cause I will have to touch and feel everything
and remember the memories and why I have kept it this long. Most things
I am going to take a picture of and let it go to a new home. Only keep
those that are such precious memories it would hurt to not have them
around. If that makes sense.
I
am doing the same thing with my t-shirts. THAT is hard to do! I think I
shared before I love all of my t-shirts. I sorted about half of them
out of the keep pile yesterday. I am going to cut them down to make
little mini quilt tops using the smaller blankies I have. The blankies I
use in the front room for watching tv. I am always having to wash them
cause of pug fur (have no idea where it all comes from....as I shift my
eyes to three sleeping/snoring pugs sitting by me). Making the quilt
tops will help keep the memories of the shirts without taking up
clothing space.
Also talked to Mr. Awesome about an idea. My
shirts are big...cause I am big....I think they would make excellent
pillow case covers. I don't really like the regular cases you can get
in the store. I like cotton, soft cotton. Using the shirts for this
would be pretty neat idea. Seems to me it would be so simple to turn
them inside out, stitch a seam, cut off the excess and viola! Memory
pillowcase covers. :)
My goal is only one, yes, one, box of
totally useless scrap/craft things. The ones that I just "know" I can
make something out of some day. hahahaha Yeal, well, that is my goal.
We shall see how close I come when done packing at the end of February.
Some more rambles..... to start the day
6:00 Am-ish
It
was suggested to Mr. Awesome, while at work yesterday, that we burn some wood in the old barrel
outside. Put in a few feet from where the pipe comes out of the well
house....that will help thaw the ground and maybe give the well a chance
to push the rest of the ice through the pipe. So, we did that last
night. It did not get into the negative numbers last night....it
stayed in the upper teens. That is a good start. Weather Dude predicts
36 for today....that is a another good start.
So many
others around us have the same issue that I feel better. Even those in
the town of Hadley are dealing with frozen pipes. It was a long hard
freeze with extremely low temperatures. I am not alone in the saga of
the well water. :)
You know something I learned about the
-temperatures?? When the wind isn't it blowing....it is not all that
bad. It doesn't actually feel cold. I guess that is why frostbite can
get to you. You don't notice it till it has done its damage.

Guess who was able to lean over and pet Ms Tuna last night? Me!! I didn't have a treat to tempt her with or anything. She did the slink down and be about one inch thick so you can't reach me, cat thing. I still did it. Ha! She even liked it cause she let me rub her whole back. I am waiting for the first time she gives me a purr. That will be fantastic.
